Documenting travel, projects, and my life!
This summer I had the opportunity to work at the power company for much of the Boise area, Idaho Power. The opportunity to work at Idaho Power was unexpected to say the least, as it is a coveted internship and I have only had a single power class in my time at BSU, so my practical and mathematical understanding of power at the time was limited to say the least.
Using Matlab to make spiral visualizations of audio files.
I have held for a few years now, though may not have expressed in so many words, that I would love to be a farmer.
I am writing this day eight because I ended up staying awake till 4am having spent most of the day at the Volcano, but I figured, as I’m at a campsite with some WiFi, and I’m a little physically tired, I’d update y’all!
For dinner, when staying at the 66.12N campsite on the coast, the California’s I met the day before ended up making me some lamb and potatoes which was absolutely amazing. Had class while they were cooking, and they were sharing whatever extras they had.
Sorry I didn’t update yesterday, had a bit of a late night, and met some cool guys I was hanging out with.
Woke to a bunch of people in cars again, this time not at a school just tourists, but slept well overall. Had to scoot to the drivers seat because the people parked close to me, which was a bit of a pain, but after brushing my teeth and getting a bit more hygenic, I pulled out and went to Skogafoss Waterfall.

In my nature I am not a traveler. I like routine, I like simplicity, I like my things. I wasn’t born to be a traveler. I was however born with the gift of travel.
ECCO Safety Group (ESG) is a global company that designs and manufactures safety equipment for a large array of vehicles, the core business of the company is manufacturing and exporting Backup Alarms and Light Bars. They are based out of Boise Idaho (conveniently enough where I live) but have bases everywhere from the UK to Australia.
So this is my newest most developed project and I super hope it works out. What cryptotrader does effectively is look at the price of different cryptocurrencies over the period of an hour and decides whether to buy or sell them accordingly. It is based on the Bitfinex api and can trade any cryptocurrency they have on there platform (I havent tested this, im just pretty sure its true). Im super stoked for this because if it works out that means that I will have a way of passively making money to buy coffee and other drinks with occasionally, or as i say ‘coffee money’ (definition: not a lot of money but a $1-2 a day, enough to buy a coffee).
So with this new semester at Colorado School of Mines I have started taking my first official Programming Class, pretty exciting, it is in C++ which from the research I have done sounds more useful and practical than python because of more chances of optimization and better multithreading.
So I have been going to Colorado School of Mines now for a little over three weeks and in this time I have joined a few clubs including Dancing Club and a team called the Solar Decathalon Challenge. The latter one is the one I am going to be talking about. This teams aim is to build a tiny home to submit to the national Solar Decathalon Challenge. The aim of the Solar Decathalon Challenge (SDC) is to build an incredibly sustainable home. I decided to join this club because it looked interesting to me and I want to hopefully build my own tiny house sometime.
WiiHue has been a project I have been working on over the summer that allows one to control Phillips Hue lights via a WiiRemote. This project is one of the most complete ones I have ever developed. It is useful and practical and well made. It works well, easy to set up, easy to use. While there are some issues with it works well. In this post I will be explaining how to set it up and use it.
So because I am going to use this blog as a way to talk about my projects I figured I should give you guys an idea of what is currently in the works. You can see the code on Github here but sometimes people like a more complete explanation of what the things are. So here is a list of the projects I am working on and where I am. This list consists of the currently active things I am working on so some repositories are going to be left out.
So I was scrolling through Google Now for some articles that I might find interesting and I happened to stumble across this article by TechCrunch talking about a relatively new start up called comma.ai that aimed to create an open source Self Driving Car using an AI and it seems to me Googles open source AI software TensorFlow. Now this seemed pretty cool at first but you know everybody has a start up and this didnt seem different unitl i realized that they had their own app that would allow you to get involved with the development of the program.
Hey people who might be reading this my name is Gage Coprivnicar, I am 18, male and am attending Colorado School of Mines. I am intersted in programming, computers, biking, rafting, and some other stuff. I enjoy programming my own little devices and through that teaching myself more about stuff. I think I want to be an electrical engineer, but mechanical sounds pretty good as well.
